The cover design was created by the graphic artist Galina Chichagova (1891-1966), who studied at the Stroganov Arts Academy and later at VKhUTEMAS under Alexandr Rodchenko. She, along with her sister Olga, who was also an artist, belonged to a renowned family dynasty of Moscow architects. Their father designed the historic Moscow City Hall, and their grandfather designed the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow. Between 1923 and 1929, the Chichagova sisters produced approximately 20 books in the Constructivist style.
Frank Leonhard (1882-1961) was a German expressionist writer who spent most of his life abroad, residing in Switzerland, the UK, France, and the US. His books were banned and burned by the Nazis.
