The collection includes playbills for operas such as 'Eugene Onegin' (December 27, 1941), 'Aida' (April 21, 1942), and 'La Traviata' (October 8, 1942, and June 25, 1943), as well as for the ballet 'Swan Lake' (April 12, 1942; July 31, 1942; and February 26, 1943).
On October 22, 1941, a bomb struck the Bolshoi Theatre building in Moscow. The subsequent reconstruction took two years, and the theatre reopened to the public in September 1943.
Renowned Russian opera singer Ivan Kozlovsky wrote that 'La Traviata' and 'Eugene Onegin' were the first full performances presented by the Bolshoi Theatre in Kuybyshev in December 1941, following earlier presentations of only excerpts. 'Swan Lake' became the first ballet performed during the evacuation, premiering on December 14, 1941.
