This is a collection of chastushki, traditional Russian humorous folk songs characterized by a high beat frequency and consisting of four-line couplets filled with humor, satire, or irony. 
For this book, chastushki were gathered during a linguistic expedition in the Vologda region. Interestingly, it includes not only traditional pre-revolution songs but also new Soviet ones, featuring themes about kolkhoz, WWII, Lenin, Stalin, and more.
