This translation of Sherwood Anderson's autobiography 'A Story Teller's Story' (originally published in 1924) was done by Elena Romanova (1911–1989), a translator better known for her work on Hemingway's writings.
The book also includes a preface by the prominent literary critic Sergei Dinamov (Oglodkov; 1901–1939), a leading scholar of American literature and a Shakespearean expert. Dinamov began corresponding with Theodore Dreiser in 1926 and played a significant role in promoting and interpreting Dreiser's work in Russia. Tragically, Dinamov was arrested and executed during the Stalinist purges.
Interestingly, in one contemporary Russian review, Anderson was referred to as the 'American Dostoevsky'. Anderson's novels enjoyed popularity in the USSR during the 1920s and 1930s, but his name has since faded into obscurity.

OCLC locates three copies of this edition: in the Newberry Library (Chicago), the Virginia Tech (Blacksburg) and the National Library of France.
