This autobiographical essay by Vsevolod Chaikovsky, an employee of the Cinema Museum, delves into the captivating realm of the first Moscow cinemas during the years 1904-1909. Among the various accounts, the essay vividly depicts a unique cinema housed on a barge, adding to the intrigue.
The preface, prepared by renowned cinema historian Grigoriy Boltyansky (1885-1953), one of the founding figures of Soviet cinematography, provides valuable insights into this transformative era.
The visually striking cover of this book was crafted by graphic artist and book illustrator Alexey Ushin (1904-1942). Ushin tragically lost his life during the siege of Leningrad.
