It's worth noting that Korney Chukovsky, a Russian poet, writer, and critic, penned the foreword. He had the privilege of meeting John Cheever during the latter's visit to Moscow in 1964 and maintained correspondence with him for a period of time.
The book design was crafted by Viktor Vakidin (1911-1991), a distinguished graphic artist and painter known for his adherence to the 'austere style'. Vakidin received his education at VKhUTEMAS-VKhTEIN in Leningrad and collaborated with Vladimir Favorsky, a prominent figure in Russian graphic art and book design of the 20th century. Additionally, he took practical photography lessons from Aleksander Rodchenko.
