This is the memoir of Russian-born prima ballerina Alexandra Danilova (1903–1997), one of the last great stars of Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. Danilova toured extensively with the Ballets Russes under Sergei Diaghilev and later performed with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo following Diaghilev's death. After becoming an American citizen, she devoted her later years to teaching at the School of American Ballet.
