This catalog showcases the works of Eugène de Kermadec (1899-1976), a notable French abstract painter whose artistic journey was encapsulated in the exhibition at Galerie Louise Leiris in Paris from May 9 to June 9, 1973. De Kermadec's abstract creations are thoughtfully presented through 56 illustrations. The catalog is enriched by a preface contributed by Francis Ponge (1899-1988), a distinguished French essayist and poet.
The catalog was part of the collection of Ilya Zilberstein (1905-1988), a prominent literary and art critic, public figure, and the editor of the multi-volume publication 'Literaturnye Pamiatniki' (Literary Heritage). Zilberstein was one of the most significant Soviet collectors and played a pivotal role in establishing the Museum of Private Collections, a department of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow. The museum's collection is based on Zilberstein's extensive collection. He is also credited for his involvement in creating the Central State Archive of Literature and Art and played a crucial role in repatriating historical documents related to Russian culture from abroad and private collections to the state funds and archives of the USSR.
Zilberstein visited Paris in 1966, 1975, and 1978 during business trips for the USSR Ministry of Culture. It is known that he received the catalogs directly from Galerie Louise Leiris.
