This collection of articles explores the life and work of the legendary ballet dancer Vaslav Nijinsky (1889–1950). Written by experts on Nijinsky, it offers new insights into his artistry, the early stages of his career as a dancer and choreographer.
The essays also examine his relationships with contemporary painters, photographers, and musicians, as well as his experiences in France, England, the United States, and South America.
The accompanying iconography vividly illustrates Nijinsky’s brief but brilliant career through period photographs and the artworks he inspired. Featured artists include Jacques-Émile Blanche, Jules Flandrin, Valentine Gross (later Valentine Hugo), Jean Cocteau, Dunoyer de Segonzac, Miroslav Kraljević, Maillol, Bourdelle, Kolbe, Gillot, Charpentier-Mio, and many others.
