In the preface to this Russian translation of Thomas Sigismund Stribling's novel 'Fombombo' (1923), the plot is compared to that of O. Henry's 'Cabbages and Kings'.
The cover was designed by Viktor Zamirailo (1868–1939), a renowned graphic and book artist. Zamirailo, who collaborated with notable figures such as Mikhail Vrubel, Viktor Vasnetsov, and Alexandre Benois, was an active participant in exhibitions of the 'Mir Iskusstva' ('World of Art') movement. He also taught at the Higher Institute of Photography and Phototechnics and at VKhUTEMAS.
