Susan Glaspell (1876–1948) was an American novelist and the first significant modern female playwright in the United States. Her third novel, 'Fidelity', was originally published in 1915. In 1931, her play 'Alison's House' won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
This Russian translation was completed by Adel' Polotskaia-Volina (1880–1944). She studied at the University of Geneva from 1901 to 1904 and, upon returning to Russia, worked as a translator for various magazines and publishing houses. During the Soviet era, she was employed at the National Library in Leningrad.
