The book contains Russian translations of two articles: 'Daedalus; or, Science and the Future' (1924) by British-Indian scientist J.B.S. Haldane (1892-1964) and the response 'Icarus; or, The Future of Science' (1924) by British mathematician, logician, philosopher, and public intellectual Bertrand Russell (1872-1970).
In 1920, Russell visited Soviet Russia as part of an official delegation sent by the British government to investigate the effects of the Russian Revolution. During this visit, he met Lenin and had an hour-long conversation with him, which left Russell disappointed. As a result of this trip, he wrote a four-part series of articles titled 'Soviet Russia—1920' for The Nation magazine and the book 'The Practice and Theory of Bolshevism' (1920).
