Second edition of 'Natasha Rostova's' book.
The writer Tatiana Kuzminskaia (nee Bers, 1846-1925) was the younger sister of Sophia Bers, who became the wife of Leo Tolstoy. Tatiana shared a close relationship with Tolstoy throughout her life. She served as one of the primary inspirations for the character Natasha Rostova in Tolstoy's masterpiece, 'War and Peace'. To this day, Tatiana is best known for her reminiscences about Tolstoy and life in Iasnaia Poliana.
This particular book by Kuzminskaia is one of her earliest works and was initially published anonymously by Tolstoy's publishing house.
The covers of the book were designed by Mikhail Malyshev (1852-1912), a peredvizhnik artist and a close friend of the renowned Russian writer Vsevolod Garshin.
