This book is divided into two parts. The first part primarily focuses on the Norge airship's groundbreaking journey to the North Pole in May 1926. It has been meticulously compiled by Alexander Lebedenko (1892-1975), a participant in this historic expedition. The renowned polar explorer Roald Amundsen and the airship's designer and pilot, Umberto Nobile, led this remarkable endeavor.
The second part delves into the rescue operation of Umberto Nobile's North Pole expedition in 1928. It was authored by David Yuzhin (1892-1938/9), a crew member of the icebreaker 'Krassin' and a journalist.
Yuzhin inscribed this book to Emily Mindlin, another crew member and writer, in December 1929 and mentioned Mindlin's own book titled 'Gulf Stream and Fjords', which was published shortly afterward in 1930.
This book is enriched with a collection of photographs and maps.
