This book written by Estonian television director, puppeteer, and children's author Uno Leies (1931-1988) was illustrated by Jutta Maisaar (1929-2003), a female theater and movie artist who likely collaborated with Leies at the Estonian television studio. In 1970, Maisaar moved to Sweden where she worked as a secretary for the Estonian Cultural Association and designed stages for the Estonian Theater in Stockholm.
The book was part of the children's collection of Inna Shmeleva (1929-2020), an artist who studied under Ely Bielutin, the founder of The New Reality artistic academy. In 1962, Shmeleva participated in the 30th anniversary exhibition of the Moscow Union of Artists at the Central Exhibition Hall (Manège), which was severely criticized by Nikita Khrushchev, marking the end of the period known as the Khrushchev Thaw.
