This book is a collection of verses written by Vadim Levin (born 1933), a well-known children's poet.
The illustrations in the book were created by Ivan Bruni (1920-1995), who was an artist and the son of Lev Bruni, a famous avant-garde painter and graphic artist. Ivan Bruni's mother was the daughter of Konstantin Balmont, a symbolist poet and one of the prominent figures of the Silver Age of Russian Poetry. Ivan Bruni received his education at the Art Academy of Latvia and the Surikov Art Institute in Moscow, where he studied under Vladimir Favorsky. From 1959 to 1962, he served as the main artist at Detskiy mir publishing house.
The book belonged to the children's collection of Inna Shmeleva (1929-2020), who was an artist. Shmeleva studied under Ely Bielutin, the founder of The New Reality artistic academy. In 1962, Shmeleva participated in the 30th-anniversary exhibition of the Moscow Union of Artists at the Central Exhibition Hall (Manège), which was heavily criticized by Nikita Khrushchev. This event marked the end of the period known as the Khrushchev Thaw.
