A rare biographical work on Leon Bakst (1866–1924), one of the most celebrated artists of his time, best known for his costume and set designs for Sergei Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes. The book also features Bakst's drawings, sketches, paintings, portraits, and theater settings, alongside his iconic costumes for Diaghilev.
Written by André Levinson (1887–1933), a Russian-born French dance critic and ballet historian who was awarded the Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur, the book was first published in English in 1922 and later appeared into French and German.
