The collection of poems was created by the poet Vladimir Lugovskoy (1901-1957) in 1930, following his journey to Turkmenistan (Turkmen SSR, Central Asia). The Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic was established in 1924. However, the Bolshevik policy incited a rebellion in Turkmenistan, leading to the loss of Soviet control over the republic in 1927. It wasn't until 1932 that the principal instigators of the rebellion were executed. During the enforced policy of collectivization, the remnants of the nomadic lifestyle were eradicated, resulting in a significant transformation of the traditional Turkmen way of life.
