This book is the English translation of 'Evterpa, ty?' ('Euterpe, Is That You?', Vol. 1, 2008) by Michael Meylac (b. 1944), a renowned literary critic, philologist, poet, and translator, and Professor of Russian Literature at the University of Strasbourg.
The book is a collection of conversations with Russian artists in emigration—ranging from dancers who worked with Anna Pavlova and Alicia Markova to choreographers such as Leonide Massine, George Balanchine, and Anton Dolin. It also includes Meylac’s insightful articles on the Ballets Russes and their impact in Europe, America, and Australia.
