The Soviet icebreaker 'Krassin' participated in the rescue operation of Umberto Nobile's North Pole expedition. The writer Emily Mindlin (1900-1981) was among the crew members. Mindlin's novel was originally published in Russian in 1929 and later reprinted in multiple languages of the Soviet nations.
