This book, authored by the Soviet proletarian writer Aleksandr Mitrofanov (1901-1951), most likely a member of the Russian Association of Proletarian Writers (RAPP), received an unexpected positive review in a Paris newspaper by Georgy Adamovitch, a prominent poet of the Acmeist school, literary critic, and translator who emigrated in 1923. In his review, he compared this 'talented book' to the works of Alexander Fadeyev, the writer and one of the co-founders of the Union of Soviet Writers.
