This photobook is dedicated to Maurice Béjart's ballet 'Nijinsky, Clown of God', which honors Vaslav Nijinsky (1889-1950), the greatest male dancer of the early 20th century. The ballet premiered in October 1971 at the Forest National in Brussels, performed by the Ballet of the 20th Century, with Jorge Donn portraying Nijinsky. Drawing from Nijinsky’s diaries, the production portrays the journey of a young man seeking truth, love, and a connection to God. The ballet references Nijinsky's iconic roles in 'Le Spectre de la Rose', 'Shéhérazade', 'Petrouchka', and 'L’Après-midi d’un faune', featuring characters from these works as companions to Nijinsky in the story. Its title stems from Nijinsky's own words: 'I will introduce myself as a clown… to make myself better understood'.
