This book is a comprehensive exploration of ‘Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune’, Vaslav Nijinsky's groundbreaking ballet inspired by Stéphane Mallarmé's poem. It includes Mallarmé's original text, testimonies from Nijinsky and other contemporaries, as well as articles about Nijinsky's work and legacy. Of particular interest is Philippe Néagu's article on Nijinsky and Adolf de Meyer, who created a remarkable series of photographs of the ballet, first published in 1914. These iconic photographs are also featured in this volume. Additionally, the book includes a chronology of performances by Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes and later revivals.
