This is the French translation of the richly illustrated book by Russian art historian Militsa Pozharskaya (1913–1998), ‘Russkie sezony v Parizhe: Eskizy dekoratcii i kostiumov, 1908–1929’, originally published in Moscow in 1988. Based on the collections of the Bakhrushin Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, and the Bolshoi Theatre, the book brings together a remarkable assemblage of sketches and designs for Ballets Russes productions.
Pozharskaya’s work also achieves the extraordinary feat of reuniting works created for the same production but now dispersed across the globe.
