This book, dedicated to the memory of Serge Diaghilev, who passed away in 1929, chronicles the final years of his legendary Ballets Russes. It serves as a companion volume to the Propert's earlier work, ‘The Russian Ballet in Western Europe, 1909–1920’ (1921), bringing the history of this groundbreaking company to its conclusion.
The book includes a preface by the French artist and renowned portrait painter Jacques- Émile Blanche (1861–1942). It is further enriched with 48 photographic plates depicting scenes from Diaghilev’s ballets and features a complete list of the 63 ballets staged by the company between 1909 and 1929.
