This verse, written by Azerbaijani female writer Nigar Rafibeyli (1913-1981), was translated by Jewish-born poet Mikhail Svetlov (Scheinkman; 1903-1964) and published in 1959 in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. This second edition of the verse featured illustrations by one of the pioneers of Azerbaijani book design and poster art, Amir Hajiyev (1899-1972). The book was part of the children's collection of Inna Shmeleva (1929-2020), an artist who studied under Ely Bielutin, the founder of The New Reality artistic academy. In 1962, Shmeleva participated in the 30th-anniversary celebration of the Moscow Union of Artists at the Central Exhibition Hall (Manège), an event that was harshly criticized by Nikita Khrushchev. This incident marked the end of the period known as the Khrushchev Thaw.
