This anthology features Russian translations of poems by Carl Sandburg, Edgar Lee Masters, Claude McKay, Joseph Freeman, Arturo Giovannitti, and James Oppenheim.
The cover was designed by Vladimir Favorsky (1886–1964), a pivotal figure in 20th-century Russian graphic art and book design. Favorsky studied at Simon Hollósy's school in Munich and later taught at VKhUTEMAS, where he became renowned as a master of woodcut engraving.
