The suppression of the counterrevolutionary kulak rebellion, led by Ulyalaev, is a notable historical event.
In the first edition of the poem by Ilya Selvinsky (1899-1968), the leader of the Literary Center of Constructivists (LTsK), an early Soviet modernist group, the literary portrayal of Ulyalaev garnered more attention than that of the communists. As a result, the first edition was confiscated. Subsequently, the text underwent revisions and was republished multiple times.
