The collection of poems 'The Crescent Moon' (1913) by Nobel Prize laureate Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) was first translated into Russian in 1914, shortly after the original book appeared. A second translation was published in Tagore’s 'Collection of Works' in 1916, and it was only in 1925 that it appeared as a separate edition.
It is noteworthy that both the 'Collection of Works' and this book were issued by the private publishing house 'Sovremennye Problemy' (Contemporary Problems), established in 1907 by the writer Nikolai Solliar (1887-1937). Interestingly, the publishing house continued to operate until the late 1920s. However, Solliar himself was persecuted during Stalin's repressions.
