This is the first complete English edition of Nijinsky's diaries, translated directly from the original handwritten Russian texts. For the first time, the diaries were published in English in 1936 in a heavily censored version by Nijinsky’s wife, which omitted nearly half of the content. This edition also marks the first time in any language that the fourth notebook has been included. In the introduction, renowned dance writer Joan Acocella provides valuable insight into the diary’s context and its significance within the history of modernism.
