First Russian separate book edition with Hood's verses. Rare.
The book includes seven poems by Thomas Hood (1799-1845): 'The Bridge of Sighs', 'The Song of the Shirt', 'The Lady's Dream', 'The Lee Shore', 'The Dream of Eugene Aram', 'The Lay of the Laborer', and 'A Parental Ode to My Son, Aged Three Years and Five Months'.
Notably, Hood's poem The Song of the Shirt was initially published in the magazine 'Sovremennik' (No. 9, 1860). However, due to its perceived 'politically dangerous' nature, particularly among young readers, the poem was subsequently banned.
OCLC locates one copy of this edition in the USA only: in the UC Berkeley Libraries.
