Extremely rare. The first Russian translation of 'The Time Machine'. The only edition of this translation.
The date of issue (censorship approval) is August 19, 1900. Another translation of the novel, by V. Tomashevskaia, began appearing in a newspaper 'Rossiia' starting in September 1900. In 1901, another translation of the novel by Vladimir Shtein was also published in Saint Petersburg, under the title 'Machina dlia Peremescheniia vo Vremeni' ('The Machine for Moving Through Time').
The book was published in Kovno (now Kaunas). According to the title page, all proceeds from the publication were donated to the Vilna Society for Reformative Agricultural Colonies and Craft Shelters for Juvenile Offenders.
