Wolfe's first book in Russia.

The introduction was written by Inna Levidova (1916–1988), a translator, literary critic, and a prominent figure in Soviet bibliography. She served as a bibliographer at the All-Russia State Library for Foreign Literature and authored significant bibliographies on English and American literature. Levidova referred to Wolfe as 'an eternal youth' and 'the son of America', noting his dreams of 'changes in social structure and the rediscovery of America'. She also praised Wolfe for his fight 'against fascism, selfishness, and greed'.
The translator, Irina Gurova (1924–2010), was renowned for her translations of science fiction works by Roger Zelazny, Clifford D. Simak, Ursula K. Le Guin, Isaac Asimov, and Stephen King.
The book's cover, dust jacket, and several illustrations were created by artist Victor Duvidov (1932–2000). Duvidov studied at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute and collaborated with May Miturich on murals for the Moscow Paleontological Museum.
