This story is about Oska, a Nenets boy, and his perilous journey to Salekhard (Yamalo-Nenets Okrug). It was written by Sergei Zalygin (1913-2000), a Soviet writer, environmentalist, and the editor-in-chief of the literary magazine 'Novy Mir'. 
The book was illustrated by Veniamin Losin (1931-2012), a graphic artist and book illustrator.
