This picture book coincides with the opening of the first Planetarium in Russia in 1929. The Planetarium was described as 'looking like a church', but its purpose was to reveal the truth about the Universe, dispelling myths about the creation of the world and educating the public with factual knowledge.
The book was created by Dmitrii Mel'nikov (1889-1966), who had extensive experience in Russian satirical series and later produced political posters, including for TASS Windows.
